At Portland Yacht Services (PYS), bass fishing isn’t just a business—it’s a passion that runs deep. It all started in 2011 when Joe Curtis, the 14-year-old son of Jason Curtis, VP of Operations at PYS, competed in his first Maine bass tournament. A lifelong fishing enthusiast, Joe was instantly hooked.
After the tournament, he asked his dad, “Does Portland Yacht Services sell or service bass boats? If not, they should—this was incredible!”
That simple question sparked an idea. PYS was already known for world-class service—any boat, any motor, any size, any season—but the bass boat community needed a dedicated service provider. That’s where PYS stepped in.

The PYS Top Finisher Program: Rewarding Competitive Anglers
The PYS Top Finisher Program is designed to support and reward Maine’s competitive bass anglers. Participants who place among the top finishers in sanctioned tournaments can earn up to $500 in rewards—simply by registering and displaying the official PYS decal on their boats.
This program isn’t just about financial incentives. It’s PYS’s way of giving back to the local fishing community and supporting the dedication and skill required to compete at the highest level.

Official Qualifying Guidelines, Rules & Conditions – PYS Top Finisher Program
🏆 How to Qualify
The PYS Top Finisher Program rewards competitive anglers who perform at the highest level while representing Portland Yacht Services. To qualify, participants must meet the following guidelines:
A win is defined as the highest finisher of a qualifying event.
The registered winner's name must match the name on the PYS program registration at the time of the win.
PYS Team Members are eligible for this program.
The PYS Top Finisher winner is responsible for verifying their win by providing a photo from the qualifying event.
Tournament staff at each event will ultimately verify the winner and ensure compliance with all PYS Top Finisher rules.
🚤 Decal Requirements
To be eligible for PYS Top Finisher recognition, participants must prominently display Portland Yacht Services decals on their boat.
✅ Placement Requirements:
Primary Location: Decal must be unobstructed and affixed to the windshield of the boat.
Alternate Location: If windshield placement is not possible, the decal must be in a clearly visible location.
Bonus Eligibility: Competitors with larger, full-size PYS decals displayed on the side of the hull may be eligible for additional recognition.
Timing: The decal must be in place on the competitor’s boat before the start of the tournament.
🚨 Note: If a competitor changes boats during the year, their original sign-up date remains valid as long as a new PYS decal is properly affixed to the new boat.
📢 Program Terms & Conditions
By participating in the PYS Top Finisher Program, competitors agree to the following:
PYS reserves the right to modify, enhance, change, or terminate the program at its sole discretion at any time.
Taxes & Income Responsibility: Any income or other taxes related to winnings are the sole responsibility of the recipient.
Media & Marketing Use: Winning individuals grant permission to Portland Yacht Services to use their name, image, and likeness in all forms of media, advertising, and promotional materials.
📝 Registration & Eligibility Requirements
A minimum of 20 boats per state must be registered for eligibility.
To participate in PYS Special Events, registration must be completed by June 1, 2025.
