Michael Espinoza joined the boatyard in 2022 as a Paint & Fiberglass Technician, bringing nine years of experience in fiberglass, gelcoat, and topside paint repair. Holding certifications in Awlgrip YPAC, Alexseal Yacht Coatings, and training with ABYC composite technicians, Michael has honed his craft to deliver high-quality finishes. Growing up in Annapolis—a hub of maritime excellence—he was inspired by the region’s deep-rooted boating culture and the skilled craftsmen who shaped the industry. This environment motivated him to pursue a career in boat repair and customization.

Michael has a deep appreciation for being out at sea, whether for work, transportation, or recreation. His passion for boating is fueled by a desire to explore remote waterways and seek out hidden treasures. Some of his favorite memories include fishing off the coast of Montauk and delivering boats through the Chesapeake Bay. However, the moment he realized his work was more than just a job came during his first paint project on a Friendship 40. Witnessing the transformation unfold, he knew he had found his true calling.

When working with customers, Michael prioritizes open communication, ensuring they feel included in the process and have multiple options for customization. His key piece of advice for boat owners is simple yet crucial: preventative maintenance is key to keeping your boat in top shape, ensuring every trip is both safe and enjoyable.



Outside of work, Michael enjoys mountain biking for the clarity it brings and has developed an interest in fintech, constantly expanding his knowledge in different fields. He also has a remarkable personal story—he taught himself to swim after nearly drowning twice as a child, a testament to his determination and resilience.

What he values most about working at the boatyard is the diversity of talent and expertise that comes together in the service yard. With access to top-tier resources and an environment that encourages continuous learning, he is constantly pushing his skills to new heights. His dedication, craftsmanship, and passion for the industry make him a vital part of the team, ensuring every vessel he works on is finished to perfection.
