Dave Hoar has been with Portland Yacht Services since 2015 and brings an impressive 45 years of experience to his role as Paint & Fiberglass Manager. Specializing in FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) repair and refinishing, Dave’s extensive background comes from a lifetime of hands-on work and a deep-rooted love for boats. He's been boating for as long as he can remember, and his passion for the water is what led him into the marine industry in the first place.



For Dave, every project carries its own memory—some more than others—but it's the sense of accomplishment at the finish line that makes each one special. He’s known for delivering more than what customers expect, always going the extra mile to ensure satisfaction. His advice to boat owners? "Have a second checkbook—it’ll make things easier to balance."

Outside of work, Dave is still on the water, boating for fun. Around the yard, he's well-known for his playful spirit—especially his habit of giving everyone he meets a unique nickname. What he enjoys most about working at the boatyard is the camaraderie with his team and the opportunity to pass on knowledge. He finds real fulfillment in helping his crew grow and learn, all while being part of a workplace he describes as having a great owner and an exceptional team
