Joined the Crew in 2022

Dave Devore joined the boatyard in 2022 as a Rigging Technician, bringing 20 years of experience in lifting heavy loads with the crane and handling complex rigging tasks. His background includes a USCG Captain’s License and a Marine Systems Certificate from the Landing School. Growing up in Rhode Island, Dave’s passion for the water began early—teaching sailing, working as a sailmaker, and sailing schooners before branching out into adventure travel and mapping industries. Returning to the marine industry has reconnected him with his roots, allowing him to apply his skills in a hands-on environment.

With over 15,000 offshore miles under his belt, Dave’s boating experience is extensive. He has completed three transatlantic crossings, participated in five Bermuda Races, three Marblehead-Halifax Races, and has enjoyed bareboat charters in destinations like Greece, the Bahamas, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. His favorite moments come from sailing to incredible places on remarkable boats, with the best part always being that first step ashore after a long passage. His deep understanding of the marine environment shapes his approach to customer service—he knows that details matter, equipment must be robust, and above all, safety is paramount. His key advice to boaters is simple: safety and training build confidence.

Beyond boating, Dave is an avid adventurer with a passion for motorcycle touring. His travels have taken him across six continents, with only Antarctica left to explore. Recent motorcycle tours have led him through Portugal, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Newfoundland, and Mexico, fueling his love for new experiences and challenges.

At the boatyard, Dave thrives in a team that can accomplish anything, enjoying the variety of projects and the ever-changing nature of the job. He appreciates the diverse scope of work that comes through, from routine rigging jobs to complex, last-minute projects that need quick turnaround solutions. Working outdoors, on the water, and with a skilled team keeps the job exciting, ensuring that no two days are ever the same. His experience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills make him a vital asset to the boatyard and its customers.
