Craig Emmes
Rigging Technician
Joined the Crew in 2015
Craig Emmes has been a key member of the rigging team since 2015, bringing 10 years of hands-on experience in rigging, splicing, and mast stepping. His expertise comes from years of on-the-job training, complemented by a 100-ton Master Near Coastal USCG License and certifications as a crane operator and signal person. His career in the marine industry wasn’t a planned path but rather a result of following his passions and continuously doing what he loves.
An avid boater, Craig enjoys dinghy cruising with his kids, sailing and rowing open boats all over the Maine Island Trail on the coast of Maine. One of his most memorable adventures was circumnavigating southern Florida as an instructor with the Outward Bound Hurricane Island School. The Trip started in the Keys and traveled through the canals and across through Lake Okeechobee. His approach to customer service is built on problem-solving and a commitment to always improving—he constantly evolves his techniques, learning new and better ways to complete tasks. His advice to boat owners is simple but essential: stay on top of annual maintenance before it becomes overwhelming.
Outside of work, Craig enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, biking, boating, camping, and even winging. A passionate adventurer, he has biked across the country, embracing the challenge of long-distance travel on two wheels.
At the boatyard, he thrives on troubleshooting complex and unique rigging challenges, continuously expanding his skill set. What he enjoys most is using his technical knowledge while working with his hands, all while spending most of the year outdoors. His dedication to the craft and problem-solving mindset make him an invaluable part of the rigging team, ensuring boats are properly outfitted and ready for adventure.
